Kathleen Barrows, In the Tuileries, 1991. SBMA, Gift of the artist.
FOCUS is SBMA's new support group for emerging art collectors aged 21 – 45ish (no ID required).
FOCUS members support the activities of the Museum's photography department and contribute to its acquisitions while enjoying a dynamic series of social and educational events. Meet and mingle with art dealers and collectors, develop relationships with up-and-coming artists, learn to build an art collection, and participate in interactive events.
Through eight yearly events, FOCUS members develop a connection to SBMA and the local art scene. A portion of membership dues will be used to acquire works of art for the Museum's collection.
For $250 per couple ($190 for current Museum Members), FOCUS members enjoy a year of benefits including:
- Museum membership
- Interactive events with local collectors, dealers, and artists
- Private tours of SBMA photography exhibitions lead by the curator
- Additional guided tours of Southern California museums
- Exclusive invitations to gallery openings
- Advance invitations and passes to art fairs
Please note that memberships are partially tax-deductible. Some events may have additional fees for transportation and due to space constraints, some events will have a limited number of participants. For those events, reservations will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
